Mustangs, Steelers, and Nightmare all victorious in week 1

Saturday April 2nd

Pinelands Sports Center

Vincentown NJ

The IGL opened for week 1 this week at the Pinelands Sports Center in Vincentown NJ. Game 1 matched up the Phladelphia Revolution against the Delaware County Mustangs. The Mustangs capitalized on turnovers, strong defense, and timely big plays by Tyriq Smith (#1) to come out with the 28-0 victory.

In game 2, the Delaware Fury took on the New Jersey Nightmare. The Nightmare drive the length of the field on the opening drive and were looking strong. But on what appeared to be an early pivotal point in the game, the Nightmare fumbled on a QB sack which was returned by the Fury 45 yards for the opening touchdown. It would all go downhill from there for the Fury. The Nightmare would immediately retaliate with a TD and 2 point conversion to take a 2 point lead making it 8-6. The Nightmare then turned up the defense and unleashed “the create a player” Dijon Thomas (#14) whom would repeatedly punish the Fury secondary scoring 20 points by himself in a 52-12 trouncing.

In game 3, the Steelers took advantage of a ridiculous amount of turnovers and good field position. The Vikings were never in the game and were handed a tough 48-0 drubbing. Tim Young (#32) made play after play. The Steelers defense dominated holding the Vikings to 62 yards of offense on the day.
