Nightmare and Steelers stay unbeaten, Revs get first victory of the season

Week 2 of the IGL got underway with a battle between the Conshohocken Steelers and the Delaware County Mustangs. The Steelers took advantage of early Mustang miscues and a hard hitting steel curtain defense taking the 24-0 advantage into halftime. The Mustangs rebounded and pulled the game to within 8, but fell short with the Steelers improving to 2-0 with a 42-33 victory.

In game 2, the Delaware Fury shot themselves in the foot for the first 3 quarters and put themselves in a 18-0 hole going into the fourth quarter. After securing a safety to make it 18-2, the Fury would drive for their only TD of the day to bring the game to within 18-8. The opportunity was there to make it a one score game, but the Fury fell short with the two point conversion and would drop to 0-2 with the final staying at 18-8. The Revolution improved to 1-1.

In game 3, the New Jersey Nightmare controlled the tempo of the game securing a 26-6 win over the Central Jersey Vikings. While down 12-6, the Vikings had a first and goal in the third quarter at the Nightmare 2, the Vikings failed to score. The Nightmare would put it on ice late and move to 2-0 while dropping the Vikings to 0-2

Next week will be the IGL’s first games of the season in the Class of ’23 arena. Included in the day’s activities is the opening game for the IGL Pro Stars hosting the Connecticut Chiefs, as well as the home opener for the 2-0 Philadelphia Yellow Jackets (AIF).  image
